Project Description

Project Overview:

This project aims to tackle the complexity of classifying fungible tokens—such as cryptocurrencies—that often embody multiple functions including governance, utility, and cultural (meme) value. Traditional classification frameworks lack empirical robustness and fail to capture the hybrid nature of many real-world tokens. This project proposes a data-driven approach to build a structured token classification model, using empirical data to define mutually exclusive “eigenvectors” that describe token utility in measurable terms.

By collecting data from whitepapers, tokenomics documentation, and price correlation patterns, this project will develop a multi-dimensional scoring system to evaluate tokens based on their functionality. The final output will assist investors, developers, and analysts in understanding, comparing, and valuing tokens more accurately.

Project Goals:

Develop a classification framework that assigns weight-based roles (e.g., 60% meme, 40% governance) to each token.

Construct a dataset using publicly available information including whitepapers, community discussions, and price data.

Apply data analytics and clustering techniques to identify key classification dimensions across tokens.

Generate insights into the evolution and market perception of token roles.

Deliver strategic recommendations for investors and stakeholders based on classification results.

Dataset Construction and Research Framework:

Identify 10–15 representative fungible tokens with varied functional roles.

Collect data on:

Token purpose and stated function

Whitepaper content and technical documentation

Price movement correlations with similar tokens

Community sentiment (e.g., Reddit, Twitter, Discord)

Key dataset attributes:

Token Symbol

Governance Score

Utility Score

Meme Score

Market Volatility

Sentiment Index

Roadmap Evolution Indicators

Market Analysis and Modeling:

Use Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to reduce feature dimensions and identify dominant classification axes.

Apply clustering techniques (e.g., K-Means) to group similar tokens based on role composition.

Visualize classification breakdown for each token, highlighting its hybrid nature and market behavior.

Evaluate how token roles evolve over time and correlate with price/sentiment shifts.

Strategic Recommendations:

For Investors: Incorporate token role decomposition into valuation and portfolio diversification strategies.

For Developers: Use empirical role profiling to refine token design and communication.

For Platforms: Offer role-based filters and visualizations to help users discover and understand tokens.

Final Deliverables:

Dataset with structured token classification scores.

Analytical report detailing modeling techniques, classification logic, and case studies.

Visual charts summarizing classification results and token comparisons.

Strategic summary highlighting insights and practical applications of the classification model.

Real-World Application:

This framework can enhance crypto investment tools, exchange transparency, and token discovery mechanisms. It offers a replicable model for classifying and valuing emerging crypto assets in a fast-changing digital economy.
